Tabor Tech TIPs Vol. 7 - BreakoutEDU

Turn your lesson into a game with BreakoutEDU

What is it? Check out this video:

Does Tabor own the breakout kits? Yes, we have three. They live in the Tech office and you can sign them out through Lianne.

What subjects is this best suited for? It is for EVERYONE! Possibilities are endless.

How do I get started? Check out this "getting started" page and see Lianne for the login and password to gain access to the games. Lianne is available to help you set up a game, run a game, create a game, or help students create their own games.

Have teachers at Tabor tried this out yet? Check out David Dodges Honors Chemistry trying it out for the first time. The game was based on chemical reactions and chemical equations. They had 45 minutes to breakout. One team did it in 16 minutes and the other in about 20 minutes. Apologies in advance for my shaky camera work.

Finding Students and Navigating to a Students Profile

There are three paths to get to a students profile:

1. Directory - search a student and select their contact card.

2. Class - navigate to your student roster.

3. Groups - Advisory, Teams, & Dorms. Navigate to "roster" or "residence".

How do I quickly find where a student is located?

After you login, navigate to your "Schedule and Performance" and look in the right side bar for "Find Me Now". You can search students here, and their schedule for that time period will show up.

Need Help Finding Phone/Life Balance?...

...What better way than with another app? Huh?

These apps help you put perspective on your phone usage and how you choose to utilize your time on your device. They track your usage, how much you check it, how much time you spend on your phone, and more. We all know someone who could use this. It might be a fun research project to incorporate into one of your classes.
