iMotion - Using Stop Motion Video Production to Engage Learning

This weekend my daughters and I played with the iMotion (Stop Motion) Movie app and the iMotion remote. We had a blast making two movies which involved a dog chase and a shark attack. After showing my 3rd and 5th grader what to do they did the rest totally independent of me. Setting up the the “studio” involved making sure lighting was sufficient, gathering props, getting the imotion remote ready on the iPad and securing the other device with the iMotion camera app . There are so many ways you can incorporate this simple, engaging, and fun activity into school curriculum and instruction. Some idea’s for Stop Motion include Story Telling, a “how to” video modeled after the “In Plain English” video’s, time-lapse of a science experiment or baking project, claymation project, as well as a great way to test understanding of concepts.
